Week 5 23 Things Kansas

This 5th week definitely took a few more brain cells, but I think I finally got it! I watched and reader the options and chose to go with bloglines.com. I felt it was the easiest to understand and I went step-by-step with teachers20.com video. I subscribed to 3 feeds; the NYT Book list, Slashdot and Cats. For now this is all I can do, but when I get my Librarian stuff caught up I hope to also to do Activity #2, I think that I can handle it. One more trick learned by this "old dog" :)

Week3 23 Things Kansas

It was touch and go for awhile, but finally I got the Wimba Session on the new Illuminar to finally load on this somewhat slow computer. I tried to access the Kansas Tax Webinar, but I kept getting denied access. That's ok, I wanted to know more about Iluminar. The title of the Wimba Session was An Introduction to the New Iluminar and that Iluminar is a patron interface with the staff interface coming in 2010. The session was held on December 18, 2009. I am assuming that it was hosted by the Kansas State Library, but I do not remember the presenter mention who the host actually was.
I am glad that Wimba worked after a few bumps. I can see that live webinars will be a great asset to those who can not get away for a meeting or it "is" to far to drive. I think webinars could help library budget.
As far as technology in the last 10 years...I attended a class about 9 years ago at a nearby junior college as did other Librarians to learn about internet filtering. The conscience of those attending was that going to the Jr. College was alot closer than the actual meeting. Now Librarians can attend a meeting from their desk. The potential for the future using this type of technology can definately make anything happen.
